Gallery Restaurant in partnership with artist Joanna Bourne
Our Gallery Restaurant has parterned with local artist Joanna Bourne displaying a range of her work.
Joanna Bourne is a printmaker based in the West End of Newcastle upon Tyne. She
makes limited edition woodcuts inspired by the Town Moor, parks and allotments near
to where she lives, places where urban life and the natural world meet, and more
distant places with a personal connection.
Jo’s studio is in her home, most of her work being printed on an 1861 Albion Press. She
is a member of Northern Print where she teaches woodcut, also teaching at other
venues in the North of England. Jo shows her work in several galleries and has regularly
been selected to exhibit at Printfest, Ulverston, where she was voted ‘Printmakers’
Printmaker’ in 2014.
Jo’s woodcuts are created by printing several layers of ink of varying transparency using
multiple blocks or reduction process, creating a subtlety and softness in the finished
piece. She also makes collages inspired by local and imaginary landscapes.
